Red Joan (12a)

Director Trevor Nunn. Biography/Drama/Romance

Based on a sensational true story, Joan Stanley is a widow living out a quiet retirement in the suburbs when, she’s arrested. The charge: providing classified scientific information about the building of the atomic bomb to the Soviet Union. As she is interrogated, Joan relives the dramatic events that shaped her life and beliefs: her student days at Cambridge, her tumultuous love affair with a dashing political radical, and the devastation of World War II, which inspired her to risk everything in pursuit of peace.

Starring Judi Dench, Sophie Cookson, Stephen Campbell Moore

Flicks Advisor (comments from our film promoters)

Wonderful, lots of good comments. Judi Dench as always brilliant.

Very enjoyable film and also thought provoking.

As usual Judi Dench was superb in her part, but a revelation was Sophie Cookson as the young Joan. An excellent performance.
