Two friends, Susan, a struggling photographer, and Anne, a writer, share a flat in New York. When Anne gets married, their friendship changes and matures, new people come and go and there’s an important shift in Susan’s career. Overshadowed by the work of male filmmakers like Scorsese and Coppola when it appeared in the 1970s, it’s a significant film made at a time when women were breaking out of traditional roles and, still immensely likeable, captures the complexities and contradictions of women’s lives and relationships with wry humour and refreshing frankness.

This venue at Tasley is extremely well organised, films are well varied for a mixed audience.

The organisers were very welcoming and offered drinks and cake as everyone arrived. The film (Ali & Ava) was different and gave an insight to other peoples lives. This is why I go to Flicks in the Sticks : to see other films rather than Box Office blockbusters and get a glimpse into other cultures around the world.
