Tortoise in Love (12a)

Director Guy Browning Comedy

Tortoise in Love is a mainstream British romantic comedy with an unusual story because it was made by an entire village in Oxfordshire. The WI did the catering, the local salon opened early for hair and make-up and villagers put up the cast and crew in their homes. The amazing story of The Village that Made the Film has attracted substantial media attention since it started. And the film? … Tom, gardener at the big house, is not a fast mover with women. In fact he's glacially slow. When beautiful Polish au pair Anya arrives for the summer, Tom falls for her catastrophically like the felling of one of the giant trees he cares for in the manicured grounds.

Starring Tom Mitchelson, Alice Zawadzki, Tom Yates, Stephen Elder, Ivan Kaye & Lesley Staples

Flicks Advisor (comments from our film promoters)

Tortoise in Love is a good Flicks film. Not one that you "have to have" but one that makes the audience laugh, not belly laugh rolling around in the isles type laugh, but a laugh. Easy to watch and reasonable sound quality . There are no sub titles though. 84 mins did leave time for a good coffee break and long chat but if you want a long film this isn't the one for you. One of the audience said to me on leaving.. " please don't get films that make us think I just want to come to the parish hall have a giggle and forget all the rest." Who could argue with that!! Just what Flicks in the Sticks is about I think.

A thoroughly delightful film - gentle humour and a true insight into village life. Our audience tittered and giggled throughout and clapped at the end. A 'MUST SEE' film - book it NOW.

Our audience loved it and voted 10/10 without hesitation. One lady said it was wonderful to be able to enjoy an innocent film. We want more.
