Maudie (12)

Director Aisling Walsh. Biography/Drama

The true-life tale of arthritic Maudie Dowley (Sally Hawkins). Living with her disapproving aunt in Nova Scotia in the 1930s, she’s the proverbial square peg in a round hole — not that that can overcome her indefatigable spirit. After meeting fellow loner Everett (Ethan Hawke), against all odds her life starts to fall into place, including a burgeoning career as a painter.

Great performance from Sally Hawkins. A totally absorbing, touching and informative film about an artist I personally knew nothing about.

A Beautiful film, not only the quality of the production but the stunning scenery too. Stellar performances especially by Sally Hawkins. Just a wonderful evening watching it.

Usual muffled speaking. Fantastic acting, applause at the end after a short silence!
